Components of ETIC Systems

In general, an ETIC System consists of 3 main components:

  • 1. Insulant

    The most common materials are expanded polystyrene foam and mineral wool insulating boards.

  • 2. Reinforcement

    In order to reinforce the insulating boards, reinforcing plaster and reinforcing mesh from glass fibre are applied, the latter avoiding any future crack formation.

    Besides the main components, there are also all sorts of detail components e.g. for fixing, pointing, sealing, mesh, edge protection and starter tracks.

    There are three methods of fixing the insulating boards to the masonry:

    • Adhesive bonding
    • Dowelling
    • Mechanical fixing (rails)
